Screen Recorder

RECORDING PRIVACY

Your recording stays on your device.

This page explains how the recorder handles screen, microphone and webcam data.

No recording uploads

The screen recorder has no recording-upload endpoint, cloud recording library, transcription service or sharing-link service. Recording bytes are processed locally by your browser. Visiting the site still involves ordinary web requests to load pages and assets.

Permission is your choice

Your browser asks you to select and permit screen sharing. Microphone and webcam access require separate device permissions. Stop recording or stop sharing to end capture. The site cannot secretly select a screen or bypass these prompts.

Device selection and microphone muting

Refresh device list briefly requests access to enabled microphone and camera inputs so you can choose them by name. Those test tracks are stopped after the list is loaded. The recording name and chosen device options are kept in page memory; the recording name is also stored with a browser-saved recording. Muting the microphone during recording silences narration while screen capture and any shared source audio continue.

Browser storage and recovery

In browser-save mode, completed chunks and basic recording details are stored using IndexedDB on this device in this browser profile. They remain until you remove the saved recording, clear site data, or the browser clears or evicts its storage. Anyone with access to this browser profile may be able to view them. Private browsing may discard data when the session ends.

Temporary microphone checks

Test microphone captures up to ten seconds of audio for local playback. Its sample is held in page memory, not uploaded or stored in the saved-recording library. Discard the sample or leave the page to release it.

Storage protection and local exports

Request storage protection asks the browser to reduce automatic eviction. The browser decides whether to grant it; clearing site data still removes recordings. Save to file exports existing chunks to a file you explicitly select. Search and sort stay in page memory; renamed recording names are saved with local recording metadata. A display wake-lock request may be used during recording when selected and supported.

Coordinating your browser tabs

Supported current-version tabs use browser locks to keep a recording or export from conflicting with preview, rename, export or removal in another tab. Same-origin browser messages signal local library changes; those messages do not include recording media or file names and are not sent to AblePro’s server. Older tabs and unsupported browsers may not participate, so keep one recorder tab open in those cases.

Direct-file mode

When your browser supports it, you can explicitly select a local file. The recorder writes to that file and finalizes it when recording ends. This mode does not create an IndexedDB recovery copy. Keep the page open until saving finishes.

Website information

This supplied version does not include third-party analytics, advertising or remote media-processing scripts. Hosting providers may keep ordinary website access logs. AblePro’s company Privacy Policy and Terms of Service also apply.
