RECORDING HELP

Recording Controls and Keyboard Shortcuts

Use the recording buttons with a mouse or keyboard. Optional shortcuts and live webcam controls help keep a demonstration moving without starting over.

Pause, mute or stop

Pause excludes the paused period from the recording while keeping the chosen screen and devices connected. Resume continues the same file. Mute microphone silences narration while screen capture and any shared source audio continue.

Stop & save finalizes the file. Keep the page open until saving finishes. The browser’s own Stop sharing control also ends recording and starts finalization.

Enable optional keyboard shortcuts

Expand Keyboard controls and enable recording shortcuts. With the recorder page focused, Alt + Shift + P pauses or resumes, Alt + Shift + M toggles microphone mute, and Alt + Shift + S stops and saves.

Shortcuts are off by default. They are ignored in input fields, text areas, editable content and select menus, and during setup or saving. Holding a key does not repeatedly toggle the action.

These are page shortcuts, not global operating-system hotkeys. If another application or tab has focus, return to the recorder to use them. Browser, keyboard-layout, system and assistive-technology shortcuts may take priority; use the visible buttons if a shortcut is unavailable.

Move or hide the webcam while recording

When webcam recording is enabled, Live webcam position changes its corner during recording or pause. Hide webcam removes the overlay from future frames and disables the camera track. Show webcam enables it again. It does not change earlier frames.

The controls cannot reconnect a camera that has been unplugged or lost permission. If a device disconnects, the recorder shows a notice and screen capture can continue. Keep the recorder tab visible to reduce canvas throttling.

Review a finished recording

Preview playback speed changes local playback from 0.5× to 2×. It does not edit or re-encode the downloaded video. A newly loaded recording starts at normal preview speed.

Close preview pauses the player and releases its page-held video URL. Browser-saved recordings remain in the local list, and files already saved to your computer are unchanged. Other browser caching and memory use remain under the browser’s control.

Recognize missing saved data

Preview / recover checks whether saved chunk indexes and total bytes match the recording details. If some are missing, the available data is labeled partial and a warning explains that it may not play. If no chunks remain, the tool reports that instead of offering an empty video.

Save to file refuses a known gap or byte mismatch and aborts the export. Recovering available data does not repair a video container or recreate missing footage. A file that passes these checks can still be damaged; always preview important recordings before sharing them.

Recording happens on your device. Make a short test, listen to the result, and keep a downloaded copy of anything you want to save.
